Southern Heritage Air Foundation (SHAF) will be introducing an educational exhibit at the Vicksburg-Tallulah Regional Airport next week, Oct. 11-15.
In conjunction with the annual Warbird Formation Clinic, SHAF will present the “RISE ABOVE” Traveling Exhibit featuring the Tuskegee Airmen and the WASPs (Women Air Force Service Pilot’s) of World War II.
SHAF officials said the exhibit tells the story of the obstacles both groups overcame in order to fly and fight for America during WWII during a time when segregation and few rights for women was prevalent.
“The exhibit resonates with people of all ages because the stories are powerful, inspirational, life-changing, and impactful,” SHAF officials said. “Through sponsorships and donations, we will be able to host this educational attraction free of charge to students and groups during the week and the public during the weekend. As you enter exhibit, you will find a seat, and then the stories come to life on a 160-degree panoramic screen. The presentation lasts approximately 35 minutes.”
Seating for the event is limited to 40 people in the theater. Those who would like to attend may send emails to patty@southernheritageair.org to reserve seats. Those who would prefer to attend a different showing are encouraged to do so.
