The Madison Parish Police Jury during its regular meeting Monday okayed Sat., Nov. 12, as the day a bust honoring the late Blues musician Rufus “Rip” Wimberly will be unveiled.
The ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. on the northeast corner of the Madison Parish Courthouse lawn, where organizers said the longtime Tallulah resident will be honored with the bust, as well as music and food. The ceremony is part of a the Northeast Louisiana (NELA) Music Trail.
In other business, the jury approved the sale of adjudicated properties, including Lot 4, Block 29, Ward 1 of Spencer & Sevier to Latricia L. Kyle for $1,666.66; Lot 4, Block 35, Ward 1 of Spencer & Sevier to Latricia L. Kyle for $1,666.66 and Lot107, Block 4, Ward 1 of Sondheimer Addition to Latricia L. Kyle for $1,000; and approved obtaining a formal quote for a possible road assessment Volkert, Inc.
