The Madison Parish Police Jury during a special meeting held Wednesday appointed a new police juror for District 1, as well as a new constable for Districts 1 and 3.
In a 3-1 vote, with the lone "no" coming from District 2 Juror Stanley Ogden, Jerry Hicks was appointed to replace District 1 Juror Preston Walker, who stepped down in December and was sworn into office as mayor of the Village of Richmond in January. Hicks was nominated by District 4 Juror Johnny Hughes, while Ogden nominated Michael Abendroth.
Replacing Eddie Fountain as constable for Districts 1 and 3 will be Doug Riggs, who as appointed by unanimous vote. Riggs replaces Eddie Fountain, who was sworn in as a member of the Madison Parish School Board Monday night.
