The annual general membership meeting of the Madison Voluntary Council on Aging (MVCOA) is scheduled to be held at 5 p.m. Thurs., Aug. 17, at the Senior Center, located at 203 South Elm Street in Tallulah.
MVCOA Director Mike Rome said all who are interested in the programs and services offered to the seniors of Madison Parish are invited to attend. This meeting is to report on the activities and functions of the council and share the plans for the future. It is a time to offer any suggestions for the improvement of the council and board members will also be elected from the membership, Rome added.
“The Council on Aging provides for the needs of our seniors in this parish,” Rome said. “Currently they are delivering 200 hot meals each day to qualifying seniors, and providing homemaker service and transportation. The Senior Center provides a place for the seniors to interact with other seniors and enjoy a hot meal each day. Seniors also enjoy educational activities and trips.
“It is the goal of the Council On Aging to allow the seniors of Madison Parish to age gracefully in the manner in which they choose.
