Jimmy R. Guy, D, is one five candidates who qualified for the race for Tallulah’s chief of police position last week.
Guy, who boasts 14 years of experience in corrections and 12 years of experience in law enforcement, joins candidates Walter Kyle, no party, incumbent Buster McCoy, D, Ryan Robinson, no party, and Darryel Skinner, D, in the 2022 race.
Guy, who served seven and a half years as assistant chief of police under former chief James Vaughn said his goals are simple.
“To fully staff the Tallulah Police Department with post certified officers,” he listed as chief among them. “This will ensure better protection, accountability and equal justice for all business owners and citizens of Tallulah for a safer and stronger community.”
Guy also said he would re-establish neighborhood crime watch programs in order to “reduce crime and help restore confidence in the Tallulah department to make our streets safer for all visitors and citizens alike with daily patrols of our neighborhoods and businesses of our community.”
Guy said he is asking the citizens of Tallulah to put their faith in his experience within the community.
“Citizens of Tallulah: With the grace of God, I humbly ask for you to help me accomplish these goals for a better, safer and stronger community for all citizens of Tallulah. I ask you to make this journey with me, help me guide Tallulah to a safer and brighter future. I have served you before and I humbly ask to serve you again as your next chief of police.”
