The Madison Journal received eight awards last week during the Louisiana Press Association’s annual Better Newspaper Competition.
Newspapers from across Louisiana made submissions from six divisions. This year’s contest was judged by the Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association.
Winners for the Madison Journal included: First Place, Best Special Section, Division 4, for Profile 2022; Third Place, Best Feature Story, Division 4, for “Coming back home” by Blake Bell; Second Place, Best Front Page, Division 4; Third Place, Best Headline, Division 4, for “The most expensive gift” by Blake Bell; Third Place, Best Overall Website, Division 4; Second Place, Best Single Editorial, Division 4, for “Tempestuous meeting not bad thing” by Blake Bell; Third Place, Best Single Editorial, Division 4, for “Thankful for the legacy MLK left” by Blake Bell; and, Third Place, Best Sports Column, Division 4, for “Coach Mike Leach will be missed in SEC, beyond” by Blake Bell.
