The Tallulah City Council will hold a public hearing Thurs., Dec. 16, concerning the plan for redistricting of City of Tallulah Electoral Districts following the 2020 U.S. Census.
North Delta Regional Planning and Development District Executive Director Doug Mitchell has presented the council with two plans over the course of the past three months, with the TCC approving Plan 2 for introduction at a Mon., Nov. 29, meeting.
Plan 2 brings deviation - the main factor in meeting U.S. Census Bureau requirements - in at 7.6 percent, well below the goal of 10 percent. Mitchell said electoral districts are constitutionally required to have similar populations, and redistricting each ten years accomplishes that goal.
The Dec. 16, meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
