Officials with Tallulah Fire Department (TPD) responded Sunday to house fire on Florida Street that destroyed a home and left its occupant in the hospital.
According to Tallulah Fire Chief Harold Allen, TPD responded to the fire in the 1400 block of Florida Street to find the home already fully involved.
"It took firefighters nearly 45 minutes to bring the fire under control," Allen said. "The occupant of the residence was injured during this incident and was transported to Madison Parish Hospital, then on to another hospital by way of Air Evac with burn injuries to the upper torso. We ask that you keep the injured and their family lifted up in prayer."
Allen also thanked surrounding first responders and others for aiding TPD with the emergency situation.
"We would like thank all that assisted us during this incident: Tallulah (Police Department), Madison (Sheriff's Office), NorthEast Ambulance, Entergy, and those in the neighborhood who assisted the victim in the early stages of this incident."
