The following is a prepared release from the candidate.
I am State Representative C. Travis Johnson.
First, I would like to thank the residents of Madison Parish for allowing me to serve the past four (4) years. Today I am pleased to announce my plans to run for re-election.
Johnson
I am the only candidate who is a proven economic developer. While in Baton Rouge, I have voted with the legislature to create the Gumbo Fund that has brought over 17 million dollars to District 21, our district. Money from the Gumbo Fund will be used to improve broadband that is needed for economic development and educational enhancement. Because I want to continue to create an environment where our children can prosper, I have consistently voted for teacher pay increase. Additionally, I pioneered and created the Delta Agriculture Research & Sustainability District to ensure that our region is at the forefront for new industries like solar energy, electric cars, industrial hemp and carbon sequestration. Through legislation, I created the Delta Bike Trail Commission to set the infrastructure to have a world-class bike trail that can be a recreational economic booster from Concordia to East Carroll. Crucially, I am the only candidate that will be able to continuously bring millions home beginning on day one.
I humbly ask for your vote and the opportunity to continue to serve and build up this region that we all love.
