Regular Meeting

Tuesday, February 10, 2023 at 5:30 P.M.
Call to Order: Mayor Preston Walker. Establish a quorum. Open with a silent prayer. Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States.
Present: Mayor Preston Walker, Councilmen: Walter Cobb, Margaret Leoty, Curt Collins, Gen Ellis Clerk.
Guests: Katherine Rundell and Archie Halterman.
Open for discussion: Mayor Walker informed the group of the progress of dog issues in the Village.
Motion to approve the minutes from the Regular Meeting January 17, 2023 was made by Councilman Walter Cobb, seconded by Councilman Margaret Leoty. Motion carried.
Motion to approve the Financial Statements as paid for the month of January, 2023 was made by Councilman Walter Cobb, seconded by Councilman Curt Collins. Motion Carried.
Old Business
2022 Ethics and Harassment Certificates are in Councilmen folders in the Mayor’s Office.
New Business
Mayor Walker and the Council discussed the need for surveillance cameras, a motion was made by Councilman Walter Cobb, seconded by Councilman Margaret Leoty to purchase surveillance cameras suitable for the Village but, not to exceed $2,00.00 Mayor Walker and Councilman Collins will inquire about the cameras. Motion Carried.
A motion to approve the mayor’s research/purchase of tables and chairs needed for Richmond Civic Center, was made by Councilman Walter Cobb, seconded by Councilman Margaret Leoty. Motion Carried.
After a discussion the Mayor and Council will address the need for street repairs in the Village. Mayor Walker will contact Mr. Chris Patrick, Volkert Inc. for assistance. Councilmen Reports:
Walter Cobb: Mr. Cobb asked about the lime deposited on the 10 Acres.
Margaret Leoty: Councilman Leoty reported street lights on Claudine and Pinkie Streets have been repaired. Councilman Leoty also reported she had requests from residents for an update on drainage problems in the Village of Richmond. Mayor Walker and the Council discussed and agreed work on the drainage ditches will begin in the summer months.
Curt Collins: Mr. Collins will check into the cameras for the Village.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Mayor and Board of the Village of Richmond will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 598 Wood Street, Richmond, LA 71282 at 5:30 P.M.
