Delta Community Action Association, Inc. has funds available for the 2023 Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP). If you have had help through us for your water bill, you will not qualify for a second benefit. This program assists needy families and senior citizens in the community.
These funds are for water/sewage only. You must be a Madison Parish resident to apply. You must have all documents at time of application, or we will not be able to complete the application process until we have all required documentation. We will be taking applications on a first come first served basis. There will be limited slots per day.
Applications will be taken Tuesday and Wednesday, August 29-30, 2023, from 9am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm at the Community Center, 800 North Beech Street, Tallulah, LA 71282.
Below is the information you will need to bring on the date we take your application:
Proof of Identity: For everyone in the household 18 years or older. State issued Driver’s License or Identification Card, Military ID, Passport, Tribal ID, etc.
Social Security Cards: For EVERYONE in the household. Must be original Social Security Card (Exception for applicants 60 years of age or older, and applicants with disabilities – may substitute original card with any federal or state government agency generated document containing the name, SSN, and other identifying information)
Utility Bill(s): Bring all current utility bills (Lights, Gas, Propane, Water)
Proof of Income: For every member of the household that receives income. (Entire 2023 SSA/SSI award letter or Entire Bank Statement from the last 30 days, Unemployment letter, Work’s Comp. letter, or the 4 most current consecutive paycheck stubs, and/or current Retirement income that shows gross amount, etc.) If the pay varies due to unusual circumstances, bring additional pay stubs. Households reporting Zero Income must provide additional documentation including but not limited to a notarized letter stating that there is no income coming into the home.
Proof of Residency: Applicant must provide documentation that shows name and service address that is on the bill that you are getting help with. (Current photo ID, voter registration card, lease agreement, or a bill such as phone or internet that is no older than 30 days) *You can’t use light, gas, propane, or water bill for proof of residency.
Lease/Rent agreement: Current lease/rent agreement including your Section 8 or HUD certification worksheet. Have this available at the time of your appointment, we will not request your information from third parties.
***PLEASE BRING ORIGINAL IDS AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARDS. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT COPIES. ALL OTHER DOCUMENTS NEED TO BE BROUGHT IN SO WE CAN MAKE COPIES. PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY INFORMATION IN DIGITAL FORM.
***If you send someone to do your application for you, you must send ALL the documents above and a letter, signed by you, giving that person permission to do the application and sign on your behalf. The person doing the application for you must also provide a photo ID.
*If it is determined that additional documentation is required, the applicant will be notified at the time of the application.
*All information provided is subject to verification. Intentional misrepresentation of information may result in criminal prosecution of the applicant and anyone assisting in the misrepresentation.
