Regular Council Meeting
City of Tallulah
August 25, 2022
A regular meeting of the Mayor and City Council was held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 5:30 P.M., in the Council Room Chamber of Tallulah City Hall.
Mayor Charles M. Finlayson called the meeting to order, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and allowed time for silent prayer.

Mayor Finlayson allowed time for comments from members of the public regarding items on the agenda, but there was none.
Motion and second to approve minutes of the August 11, 2022 meeting were made by Councilmembers Houston and Harris respectively and carried unanimously.
Councilmember Day moved for the approval of A Resolution Adopting a Residential Anti displacement and Relocation Assistance Plan. Councilmember Harris seconded, and motion carried. Councilmember Wells voted nay on the resolution.
Cindy Thomason, CPA, Allen, Green & Williamson, was present to explain to the Council some of the contents of the contract with the city and to further clarify certain statements in the contract that had been questioned by Councilmember Wells in a prior meeting.
Subsequent motion to approve the contract was made by Councilmember Houston, seconded by Councilmember Day, and carried. Councilmember Wells, not totally satisfied with explanations given, voted nay on the contract.
City Clerk Gerald Odom presented a financial overview of the city’s General Fund for the month of July, the first month of the city’s new fiscal year. He stated that all departments made a very good actual to budget performance and pronounced the month of July as very successful for General Fund.
At this juncture, Mayor Finlayson allowed a public forum for citizens to express their thoughts to him and the Council not to exceed three minutes each. Several people spoke expressing their ideas, opinions and advice. Subjects discussed included city adjudicated properties, city clean up, flash flooding problems and solutions, culvert clean out actions, and trash pick-up in certain areas.
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned by the Mayor.
