BUDGET MESSAGE
CITY OF TALLULAH
FISCAL YEAR 2024
On June 8, 2023, at a public hearing, 5:30 P.M., City Hall, Mayor Charles Finlayson requested that the City Council approve his General Fund, 2024 budget in the amount of $3,277,250 for the coming fiscal year. It is a modest increase over the prior year’s budget. Also, to be approved are the budgets for water and sewer funds. The General Fund budget for the current year will also be amended.
The City’s General Fund comprises City Administration Mayor’s Office, Police Department, Fire Department, Street Department and the Community Center.
The new fiscal year begins on July 1, 2023, and ends as of June 30, 2024. Therefore, the current fiscal year is coming to a close as June 30, 2023 approaches.
Revenues appear to have stabilized, and at the current rate, the City should be able to operate efficiently and effectively throughout the coming fiscal year, and the break-even point should be easily realized, or perhaps a minimal surplus for the year could result.
A detailed version of the City’s budgets by department and line item is available for public viewing at City Hall between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
