Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) announce the opening of online applications for the 2025-2026 Trash Receptacle Grant. The purpose of the KLB Trash Receptacle Grant is to reduce litter in communities throughout Louisiana by providing high-quality trash receptacles for placement in outdoor public spaces.
“A cleaner Louisiana starts with each of us doing our part to properly dispose of trash and keep our public spaces free of litter,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Thanks to the support of our state legislature, this grant program helps communities place durable, high-quality trash receptacles where they are most needed. These receptacles not only make it easier for people to do the right thing, but they also support our efforts to protect Louisiana’s natural beauty, strengthen community pride, and create a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors.”
“Data collected by KLB over the last several years shows a reduction of litter by 78% in areas where trash receptacles have been properly installed, serviced, and maintained,” said Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director. “One of KLB’s key initiatives is to help build infrastructure that supports clean, beautiful communities. Funding trash receptacles is a way KLB does that.”
Louisiana parishes, municipalities, recreation districts, and state agencies are eligible to apply. Eligible applicants may request to receive up to five high-quality trash receptacles to be installed in outdoor public spaces owned by the applying government entity.
The application is open now, and the deadline to apply is October 14, 2025. Grant recipients will be announced by December 2025.
This grant is made possible with funding from the State of Louisiana and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
