A traffic violation in Mississippi last week led to a high-speed chase that ended in Madison Parish
The Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Thurs., Dec. 3, regarding a high-speed chase on Interstate 20, per MPSO spokesperson Brandon Wiltcher. The chase originated in Madison County, Mississippi. When officers attempted to stop the car, the car rammed a patrol car and fled. Deputies from MPSO, Delta Marshal and Louisiana State Police set up along I-20 West bound in Louisiana. As the vehicle entered Louisiana, MPSO used stop sticks to end the chase safely. Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident.
The driver, 39-year-old Katrina Courtney, was brought to the Madison Parish Jail, where she was booked on charges out of Mississippi. Courtney will be transported back to Mississippi, pending extradition. The passenger, who was not charged, has been transported back to Mississippi. Wiltcher said, due to collaborative efforts from the respective agencies, they were able to end the chase with a safe conclusion. Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Hinds County Sheriff’s Office, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Vicksburg Police Department, Delta Marshals and Louisiana State Police were involved in the chase and subsequent arrest.
