Four people were taken to the hospital Monday after a sedan collided with an 18-wheeler at the intersection of South Cedar and Dabney Streets, according to a statement from the Tallulah Police Department.
The crash occurred on July 21 at approximately 2:48 p.m. Officers responded to the scene and “encountered the white male driver of the 18-wheeler, as well as the driver of the four-door sedan and its three occupants,” the department stated. All individuals involved “reported potential injuries.”
Both vehicles were heading north on South Cedar Street at the time of the crash. According to the police, the 18-wheeler was turning left onto Dabney Street when the 2012 gold Nissan Altima “collided with the left rear side of the trailer.”
“The 2024 Freightliner had already completed its left turn onto Dabney Street when the Nissan Altima collided with the trailer,” the statement read. The impact caused visible damage to the sedan’s “front windshield and front right passenger door.”
Emergency medical personnel from Northeast Ambulance Service arrived on the scene to treat all four occupants of the sedan. A Black male in the front passenger seat reported injuries and received care on-site before all four were transported to the nearest emergency room “for further evaluation and treatment.”
Richmond Automotive was contacted to tow the damaged Altima. The driver of the sedan was cited for “failure to yield, causing an accident, as well as for operating a vehicle without insurance,” according to the department.
