Qualifying opened Wednesday for municipal, parish, state and federal offices in Madison Parish, with candidates filing paperwork on the first day of the qualifying period.
The information remains unofficial until qualifying closes at the end of business Friday, Feb. 13. Two days remain for candidates to file.
In the City of Tallulah, three Democrats qualified for mayor: Arthur R. Lee, Gloria Owens Hayden and Kendrell Robinson.
Donnell Rose qualified for chief of police.
For Tallulah City Council District 1, Candice Fountain and Thomas Harris Jr. qualified. Leketha Payne qualified in District 2. In District 3, Leandra Mitchell and Tommy Watson Sr. filed paperwork. Earlean Curry qualified in District 4. No candidates had qualified in District 5 as of Wednesday.
Jonathan Mark Federick of Tallulah qualified for Justice of the Peace for Districts 1 and 3.
In Public Service Commission District 5, Democrat James Edward Green of Shreveport qualified. Republicans John E. Atkins of Shreveport and Aiden C. Joyner of West Monroe also filed.
In the race for U.S. Senate, Democrat “Jamie” Davis of Ferriday and Republican John Fleming of Minden qualified on Wednesday.
For U.S. Representative in the 5th Congressional District, Democrats Jessee Fleenor of Loranger, Larry Foy of Winnsboro and Dan McKay of Bunkie qualified. On the Republican side, Misti Cordell of West Monroe, “Rick” Edmonds of Central, Austin Magee of Franklinton, Michael Mebruer of St. Francisville, Blake Miguez of Baton Rouge and Samuel “Sammy” Wyatt of Denham Springs filed paperwork.
Election officials noted that the address on the proof of identity for one candidate differs from the address listed on the notice of candidacy.
