Donald Trump’s recent meetings with Vladimir Putin and later with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders revealed the difficult road ahead for peace in Ukraine. In Alaska, Trump and Putin spoke for hours but reached no agreement. Putin demanded control of eastern Ukraine in exchange for a ceasefire, a proposal Kyiv rejected.
