Dr. Latricia Lynette Kyle, a native of Tallulah, Louisiana, has been elected by her peers to serve on the Faculty Senate at Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC). She is the daughter of Mrs. Georgiette Moore, a retired school bus driver, and the late Mr. Jimmie Lynn Kyle, a military veteran. She is also the granddaughter of the late Mr. Dave Wilson Jr. and Mrs. Lear Beatrice Williams Wilson.
Her election to this esteemed body reflects the confidence and respect of her colleagues and underscores her leadership, vision, and commitment to academic excellence. Dr. Kyle will serve a two-year term from Fall 2025 through Fall 2027.
The Faculty Senate plays a vital role in shared governance at BRCC, representing faculty in matters of academic policy, curriculum development, institutional planning, and campus-wide initiatives. Dr. Kyle’s election highlights her dedication to meaningful collaboration and her ability to advance educational equity through thoughtful advocacy.
Currently an adjunct faculty member at BRCC, Dr. Kyle brings over 20 years of experience as an educator, scholar, and advocate. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications; more than ten since earning her doctoral degree, and is frequently invited to present her research at national and international academic conferences.
Her areas of research include race relations, intercultural experiences, racial disparities, disproportionate minority contact, media and policy responses, and systemic approaches to racism. A passionate advocate for educational equity, Dr. Kyle is especially committed to ensuring that all juveniles have access to a free and appropriate public education.
In addition to her academic work, Dr. Kyle has held leadership roles in civic and advocacy organizations. She formerly served as Director of Research for the African American and African Improvement Movement Society, Inc., in Powder Springs, Georgia, and was a member of the NAACP Legal Redress Team in Monroe, Louisiana, from 2020 to 2021.
Dr. Kyle often credits her drive and determination to the foundational influence of her grandparents, Mr. Dave Wilson Jr. and Mrs. Lear Beatrice Williams Wilson, who instilled in her the belief that education is a powerful tool for change. Their enduring legacy continues to inspire her work and life.
Among her proudest roles is that of mother. Her sons, Nathaniel Louis Rogers and Terry Christian Rogers, both graduated from Northwestern State University. In her free time, Dr. Kyle enjoys reading about public policy and giving back to her community through mentorship and service.
Her election to the BRCC Faculty Senate marks a significant professional achievement and affirms her lifelong dedication to education, justice, and public service. Through this role, she continues to honor the legacy of her family; rooted in perseverance, purpose, and a steadfast belief in the transformative power of knowledge.
