A&D Helping Hands is holding a donation drive to collect personal hygiene products for distribution to clients across northeast Louisiana. The drive is focused on collecting essential items for individuals enrolled in the organization’s in-home care services.
Donations may be dropped off at the agency’s office, located at 405 North Cedar Street in Tallulah. Items are accepted Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Requested items include soap, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, deodorant, lotion, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, conditioner, and laundry detergent pods. All donations must be new and unopened.
Shkarria Crockett with A&D Helping Hands, said the items will be distributed directly to the organization’s existing clients.
“The donations go to our clients,” Crockett said. “They are individuals who need hygiene supplies as part of maintaining their daily care.”
A&D Helping Hands is a Medicaid-based home and community care provider serving clients across Louisiana’s Region 8, including Madison, East Carroll, Franklin, Richland, Union, Morehouse, Lincoln, Jackson, and Ouachita parishes. Services are provided to a range of individuals, including those who are elderly or living with disabilities.
The organization assists clients with basic activities of daily living, including feeding, grooming, ambulation, toileting, and other tasks performed in the home. Support staff, referred to as sitters, provide these services to help clients remain at home rather than enter institutional care.
Only current clients of A&D Helping Hands are eligible to receive items from the donation drive. To become a client, individuals must qualify for Medicaid and enroll in the state’s long-term waiver program. After approval, they must select A&D Helping Hands as their provider.
“It’s for anyone we serve, no matter where they live in the region,” Crockett said.
Crockett encouraged those interested in donating to drop items at the Tallulah office or contact her to coordinate larger donations. She can be reached at (318) 493-5142.
