Madison Parish deputies arrested two adults and three juveniles after a report of armed individuals at Madison Apartments on Friday, according to Sheriff Chad Ezell.
Deputies received information around 2 p.m. on Dec. 5 about five unknown males in the area. The report stated the individuals were armed. Deputies arrived at the complex and saw the group leaving the parking lot in a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted.
According to the sheriff, deputies found two adults and three juveniles inside the car along with six weapons, some of which were identified as stolen.
Garyon Fleming, 17, of Hammond, was booked on illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
Schirra Finn, 19, of Amite, was booked on illegal possession of a stolen firearm and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
The juveniles were charged with illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. All five were from the Amite or Hammond areas.
Sheriff Ezell said his deputies acted quickly. “This could have been a really bad situation,” Ezell said. “As heavily armed as this group was and having no ties to this community, I’m glad they were caught and we got those guns off our streets.”
