Be it known and declared that the governing authority of the Parish of Madison, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), did meet in open and public session to examine the official certified tabulations of votes cast at the special election held in the Parish on Saturday, October 11, 2025, and did examine and canvass the returns of the said election, there having been submitted at said election the following propositions, to wit:
PROPOSITION NO. 1 OF 3 (MILLAGE RENEWAL)
Shall the Parish of Madison, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), continue to levy a special tax of 7 mills on all property subject to taxation in the Parish (an estimated $796,200 expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of 10 years, beginning with the year 2027 and ending with the year 2036, to be used for constructing, improving, equipping, operating, maintaining and supporting the Madison Parish Courthouse and Jail?
PROPOSITION NO. 2 OF 3 (MILLAGE RENEWAL)
Shall the Parish of Madison, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), continue to levy a special tax of 1.18 mills on all property subject to taxation in the Parish (an estimated $134,200 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of 10 years, beginning with the year 2027 and ending with the year 2036, to be allocated as follows: 50% for the purpose of maintaining and operating the Madison Parish Health Unit and 50% for the purpose of supporting the general fund?
PROPOSITION NO. 3 OF 3 (MILLAGE RENEWAL)
Shall the Parish of Madison, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), continue to levy a special tax of 9.03 mills on all property subject to taxation in the Parish (an estimated $1,027,100 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of 10 years, beginning with the year 2027 and ending with the year 2036, to be allocated as follows: 50% for providing and maintaining garbage collection and disposal services and 50% for constructing, improving, equipping, operating and maintaining public works and roads of the Parish?
There was found by said count and canvass that (i) there was a total of 398 votes cast IN FAVOR OF Proposition No. 1 and a total of 176 votes cast AGAINST Proposition No. 1, as hereinabove set forth, and that there was a majority of 222 votes cast IN FAVOR OF Proposition No. 1 as hereinabove set forth, (ii) there was a total of 381 votes cast IN FAVOR OF Proposition No. 2 and a total of 187 votes cast AGAINST Proposition No. 2, as hereinabove set forth, and that there was a majority of 194 votes cast IN FAVOR OF Proposition No. 2 as hereinabove set forth and (iii) there was a total of 406 votes cast IN FAVOR OF Proposition No. 3 and a total of 163 votes cast AGAINST Proposition No. 3, as hereinabove set forth, and that there was a majority of 243 votes cast IN FAVOR OF Proposition No. 3 as hereinabove set forth. Therefore, it has been declared by the governing authority of the Parish that the Propositions as hereinabove set forth were duly CARRIED by a majority of the votes cast by the qualified electors voting at the said special election held in the Parish on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Results by precinct are available from the Secretary-Treasurer of the Police Jury during regular business hours or via the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website (voterportal.sos.la.gov). The actual cost of the election as determined by the Louisiana Secretary of State in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 8-A of Title 18 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, as amended, is $25,435.82.
