Weekly updates from CSWR show repairs, equipment work and maintenance on the Tallulah water system during January and February 2026.
Staff handled requests and customer work during the period. Disconnections for nonpayment increased during February. Ten disconnects were reported for the week ending Feb. 6, 22 for the week ending Feb. 13 and 30 for the week ending Feb. 27.
Crews repaired leaks in the distribution system during the period. Three leaks were repaired during the week ending Feb. 6, including an 8-inch mainline break that required a shutdown and a boil water advisory. The advisory was lifted Feb. 6 after sample results passed.
A second boil water advisory was issued Feb. 20 and lifted Feb. 24 after samples passed, according to the update for the week ending Feb. 27.
Meters were replaced at several addresses during February, including 712 Cornelius, 402 E. Craig, 300 Lois Lane, 100 E. Bayou and 501 Lasalle.
Work at the water plant included inspection and cleaning of wells 2 and 4. Well 4 had tested at 1,168 gallons per minute in the past and is now rated at 420 gallons per minute. Engineers reviewed proposals for work on the wells and testing of the aquifer.
Plant staff continued daily work on clarifiers and filters. Filters operate throughout the day and are cleaned each day along with turbidity sensors. Sample taps were installed before and after the ultrafiltration filter to monitor turbidity.
Crews also continued flushing lines in the distribution system and removing lime buildup from the plant yard and nearby creek.
The corrosion inhibitor system at the plant was installed and a certificate of construction was submitted to the Louisiana Department of Health on Jan. 27.
Several projects remain paused under a letter issued Nov. 26, 2025. The paused work includes mapping and flushing programs, aquifer testing work with variable frequency drives for well motors and lead and copper rule planning.
Officials also reported that the governor plans to extend the contract for work on the system, though details on the scope and term remain pending.
