A man wanted by authorities in East Carroll Parish after allegedly attempting to introduce contraband into a detention center led Madison Parish deputies on a brief chase before being apprehended last week.
According to information from the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office, East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office officials contacted MPSO Wed., July 20, informing them a man driving a white Dodge Charger had attempted to toss a package over the fence at the Riverbend Detention Center, before fleeing south on Highway 65.
MPSO officials said Madison Parish deputies spotted the vehicle entering the city limits of Tallulah and a brief chase through town ensued.
“When deputies attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, it took off,” MPSO officials said. “Deputies continued to pursue the car throughout the town, as it refused to stop. The chase came to an end near the intersection of Highway 601 and 602 at a dead end.”
The suspect, 22-year-old Blake Thomas of Opelousas, La., exited the car to flee on foot, but was taken into custody without incident, officials said.
Thomas was taken back to East Carroll Parish by law enforcement, but will face pending charges in Madison Parish, officials added.
