Every time I go back to my hometown, I am invited to stay with my sister at her home. She has a nice home and my wife and I are very fortunate to have a good relationship with her, especially during our later years in life. The Lord has blessed both of us with a good sibling relationship along with our brothers, whom we also get to visit with.
As you leave her house, going out the back door, there is a placard hanging on her wall that reads, “In a world where you can be anything…Be Kind!”
I have read the message on this placard many times and each time it resonates a strong message as I walk out the door. It would be my hope that all who see it abide by it when going out into the world. It only takes a small amount of energy to put a smile on your face with gratitude in your heart. If all of us would do this, then our actions could radiate to those around us and maybe, just maybe, someone would benefit from it.
We are told in Ephesians 4:32; “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.”
Today our world is begging for kindness. In many instances it is not being displayed from the generations following us because gratitude and appreciation either hasn’t been taught to them or they are unwilling to accept it. This is not to say that our and past generations have always been correct in what we do, because we haven’t. There are many virtues that were taught to us, however, that don’t seem to have been handed down. Satan is tearing this sinful world apart with his ugliness, foul play, deceitfulness, and shallowness. Many in the world today expect money to be a part of their lives and do not realize what money cannot buy. It cannot buy manners, morals, respect, character, common sense, trust, patience, class, integrity, or love. We must also realize that on occasions when we have trouble showing kindness is when we need to forgive someone.
Our world is desperate for kindness. All of us need to be the first person to start a generation of sharing kindness to anyone and everyone we see. We just might be that one spark or one light that someone will see that could encourage them to see good in others. We need to be the one that tells them about Jesus and what He has done for us in our lives. We need to be the ones that show everyone around us what Christian living is about by displaying good morals and behavior and showing love, respect, and kindness to everyone.
Open God’s Word today and read about the love our Lord and Savior has for you. Open your heart and invite Him in so that He can give you the peace and understanding of life and the fulfillment of knowing that when this life on earth is over, you will be with Him in eternity.
Always remember, “In a world where you can be anything…BE KIND!”
