It wasn’t so long ago that my daughter-in-law and son gave me a book to read. For those that know me, know that I enjoy reading and this book that I received, “The Shack” by William Paul Young, is a good book.
I had heard of it before and many have critiqued it as a good and not-so-good book. I found it very enlightening even though some of the reading I disagree with.
Like many of us today this book displays emotions through a tragic incident. These emotions are hard to let go of until we realize that God is in control and will take care of our every situation.
God will talk to us if we will listen for His voice. It may not be an audible response but He will respond. “The Shack” tells of one person who is allowed to spend time with the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.
The Trinity I firmly believe in and hopefully you do too. This book displays the triune God in a way that I would never have thought of, but I can’t say the author is wrong. Like many others, my vision of God could be totally different from your vision of God.
I know one thing for sure and that is that God is real. He is with us in everything that we do. When we come upon times when our problems seem to have the best of us, this is when we have put God on the back seat and tried to control the situation ourselves. All of us need to learn that God will take care of us if we have faith in Him.
Many of us never experience the love that God intends for us because we are always getting in His way. I once read a great quote that said, “Hello, this is God. I will be in control today and I will not need your help.”
Our God is an awesome God, a powerful God, and a loving God. The Holy Bible tells us this throughout its pages; however, sometimes a book such as “The Shack” will come along and awaken our sincere desires and needs to allow God to be in control.
One of the quotes written on the first page of the book is by Wes Yoder, Ambassador Speakers Bureau. What he says sums up what the book is about but also sums up what many of our lives are about. He stated, “The Shack is a beautiful story of how God comes to find us in the midst of our sorrows, trapped by disappointments, betrayed by our own presumptions. He never leaves us where He finds us, unless we insist.”
