Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL) is proud to announce the launch of Exel Louisiane, a new economic development initiative designed to support Louisiana businesses, professionals, and organizations seeking to grow their capacity to operate in French and tap into the power of the global Francophone economy.
“French is not only a cultural asset – it’s an economic one,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Through Exel Louisiane, CODOFIL and the State of Louisiana support local professionals who leverage the state’s historic ties to the French-speaking world and optimize the French language as a tool for growth, opportunity, and visibility.”
Exel Louisiane offers free technical assistance and visibility to Louisiana professionals who want to engage with French-speaking clients – whether they are residents, tourists, or international partners. This free program equips Louisianans with the technical assistance needed to strengthen their French-language services and develop a Francophone clientele comprised of locals and tourists alike.
The program serves Louisiana professionals in three main ways:
Exel Louisiane is open to businesses, entrepreneurs, nonprofits, tourism bureaus, and civic leaders who offer services in French or want to grow their ability to do so. Participants benefit from increased visibility, linguistic credibility, and the opportunity to be part of a larger movement positioning French as a language of economic connection in Louisiana and beyond.
“This initiative marks an important step toward sustainable economic growth for Louisiana’s Francophone partners,” said Peggy Feehan, CODOFIL Executive Director. “Through Exel Louisiane, CODOFIL is expanding the role of French beyond education—into the professional, economic, and tourism sectors—creating new opportunities for jobs and collaboration across the state.”
Interested professionals, businesses, and organizations can learn more and join the initiative on the Exel Louisiane webpage. Follow @codofil on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn to discover how French continues to thrive as an economic, cultural, and educational asset in Louisiana.
