Children enrolled in Delta Head Start programs in Tallulah and Lake Providence attended a live performance of “Big Buddy Roger” on Tuesday, March 10, at the Tallulah Elementary School auditorium.
Students, parents and staff gathered for the program, which focused on early childhood learning through music and participation. The performance included songs, movement and audience interaction designed for young children.
“Big Buddy Roger” is the stage name of Roger J. Timber, a Louisiana native actor, author and motivational speaker who performs educational shows for early childhood audiences.
Timber created the “Big Buddy Roger” character to engage young children through music and storytelling, with messages centered on kindness, friendship and personal development.
His programs use elements such as alphabet instruction, music, movement and repetition to support early learning. Program materials describe a focus on teaching letters, basic concepts and positive affirmations through interactive performances.
The Tallulah performance incorporated alphabet-based instruction and early literacy concepts. A segment of the show featured an “ABC Learning Train,” which introduced letter recognition through music and repetition.
Children participated by clapping, singing and moving along with the performance.
Delta Head Start staff said the event supported instruction in early learning areas including communication, social development and basic academic skills. Staff said events that include families and school activities support engagement between programs and households.
The performance was held during the school day and included students from both Tallulah and Lake Providence Head Start sites.
